Exclusive: 'Planet Of The Apes' Sequel Rising In Summer 2014
Fox CEO confirms to MTV News that Andy Serkis is 'fully committed' to return as the rebel ape leader, Caesar.

If you haven't seen one of last summer's finest blockbusters or somehow didn't understand the implication of the film's give-away-the-ending title, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" concludes with the highly evolved apes poised to take over the world. Where exactly the story will pick up in Fox's planned sequel is something filmmakers haven't quite cracked, but now we know exactly when audiences will get a chance to check it out.
"That will be a summer '14 movie," Fox head honcho Tom Rothman exclusively told MTV News at CinemaCon at Las Vegas.
Director Rupert Wyatt is locked in to return to the director's chair after the first film in the rebooted franchise grossed over $480 million worldwide. And Andy Serkis, who wowed moviegoers with his motion-captured portrayal of rebel ape leader, Caesar — a performance that without a doubt deserved high-profile awards-season love but didn't receive any — is also set to reprise his role. "Andy's fully committed to it," Rothman said.
But what about that question of when in the franchise timeline the sequel will begin? During the original film's post-credits sequence, we saw the genetically engineered virus created by James Franco's scientist begin to spread across the globe, thanks to one infected patient's ill-advised airplane trip. How much time will have passed between that pandemic and the start of the sequel has not been decided.
"I think one of the big questions they're wrestling with now, which is kind of the fun, is how far forward do we skip?" Rothman said. "When does it start? Does it start the next day? The next year? Does it start in 10 years? Does it start in 50 years?"
Part of that storytelling decision will also have to take into account a third film, because as Rothman reaffirmed, Fox is planning "Apes" as a trilogy. And he'll accept nothing less than scripts that are even better than the original's. "The script for that 'Apes' film was fantastic," Rothman explained. "We had the script for 10 years, and I always knew it was one of the best scripts. I just didn't think it was possible to do it. I thought it couldn't be done. ... We got to have a great script. Because now, having made that good a movie, we better make the next one better."

Business-minded HP 'Slate 8' tablet surfaces in leaked image
This one is still very much unconfirmed, but a "trusted source" recently provided Neowin.net with the image you see above, which purports to be a mockup of a forthcoming business-minded tablet from HP dubbed the Slate 8. That's obviously a Windows 8 tablet and, if the details are to be believed, you can expect a 10.1-inch display, eight to ten hours of battery life, optional pen-based input, a docking station of some sort, an outdoor viewing option and a number of business-friendly security measures -- all in a package that's 9.2mm thick and about 1.5 pounds. Adding some weight to leak is ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley, who hasn't been able to confirm it outright, but says that after a bit of investigation she is "inclined to believe this is a real mock-up and is part of HP's line up of business desktops and laptops it will be touting this year."

<P><P>The world can't seem to get enough of that <a href="/news/articles/1683173/tupac-hologram-coachella.jhtml">Tupac hologram from the Coachella festival</a>. The late rapper's lifelike image left fans in awe as it performed alongside Snoop Dogg during his set with Dr. Dre. </P><P> </P><P>The people behind the projection system that created the incredibly realistic likeness of the MC are now cooking up ideas of who else they might want to bring back to life. </P><P> </P><P>Speaking to <a href="http://www.nme.com/news/2pac/63453" target="_blank"><i>NME</i></a>, Sanj Surati, head of music at Musion Technology Ltd, explained that one of music's greats could one day perform alongside one of pop's biggest stars. Asked whether there were plans to bring back Elvis Presley and perhaps have him perform next to Justin Bieber, Surati said it "would be a cool thing." </P><P> </P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:757407/cp~vid%3D757407%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A757407" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed> </P><P> </P><P>If an Elvis/Bieber collabo can't shake out, Surati explained there are others he'd like to see come to life: "Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain, oh, and Michael Jackson would be the ultimate one," he said. Josh Barnett: ?I was born for this?
On May 19, Josh Barnett will take on Daniel Cormier to decide the winner of the Strikeforce heavyweight grand prix. When he walks into that cage, he'll bring with him the experience of 36 fights, including eight wins in his last eight bouts. In the video above, he says he was born to fight, and has a mean streak no one else has. Will that make a difference against Cormier, who has elite wrestling and knockout power?
