Two days after President Barack Obama delivers his State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress, he will be taking a much different stage to address the American people. The president will host a Google Hangout on Thursday at 1:50 p.m. Pacific Time.

It is the second "Fireside Hangout" put on by a president, who places a heavy emphasis on social-media interaction with the American public.

Obama did a Reddit AMA last August, which prompted nearly 25,000 questions and comments from people all over the world. He also has participated in YouTube interviews as well as discussions on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter.
