BROWN: GOP convention full of lies

Ron Reagan said of the Republican Convention, "When did Mitt Romney's campaign decide that consistent lying was part of their strategy?"?

A Romney aide actually told the press that fact checkers weren't going to get in their way. Read: "We're lying and we hope the American people won't notice or that they don't care!"

Folks, this is not my personal bias toward the Democrats. This is what the L.A. Times, N.Y. Times, Washington Post, and many more papers are saying. Even Fox News contributor Sally Kohn said, "Ryan?s speech was an apparent attempt to set the world record for the greatest number of blatant lies and misrepresentations slipped into a single political speech." She spoke of "the mountain of cow dung that flowed from Ryan?s mouth."

It's true that President Obama is taking $716 billion out of Medicare, but it's taken out of money paid to hospitals, insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies. This money goes into the new system which saves money for patients and gives them better care. Some are already in place, such as insurance companies not denying coverage if you have a previous health condition, staying on your parent's policy until age 26, cheaper drugs for seniors, and more. The health industry has agreed to these conditions as a trade-off, because under the Affordable Care Act, they will have many more customers. I'd like to think they also see it as being more humane to cover almost everyone.

Romney may tweak the Ryan plan. But Ryan's plan also takes $716 out of Medicare. However, he doesn't put it back into the system like Obama does, he takes it away and offers a government voucher program, which is a cruel joke. That money will last for about a one-day stay in the hospital. If you're seriously ill and aren't wealthy, you'll either go broke or die.

Ryan blamed Obama for the closing of a GM plant in Janesville, Wisc. But Obama wasn't in office then.?Then Ryan said Obama promised he'd reopen the plant ? a lie.

Romney said, "Unlike President Obama, I won't raise your taxes. Obama has NEVER raised taxes, he's cut them for virtually every American. He cut them for small businesses several times. As to the stimulus package, which the GOP loves to deride, a fourth of it was a tax cut.

Ryan said Obama caused America to almost default on our debt. Everyone knows it was the Tea Party, Michele Bachmann and the other wingnuts who actually said we should not extend the debt ceiling and let America go over a financial cliff ? and we almost did, until responsible Republicans stopped them.

Throughout the convention, comments were made that Obama doesn't understand the American dream. Well, Rand Paul wouldn't be a senator unless father Ron hadn't pulled strings for him. Romney was "born on third base and thought he hit a triple." Look, George W. Bush, John McCain and now Romney all came from wealth and privilege?and then have the temerity to attack Obama, who is the very American dream itself! I challenge anyone to compare what Obama went through and had to work through to accomplish what he has, compared ?to these blue-bloods.?

Newt Gingrich repeated the lie that Obama has loosened the work requirements for welfare.?Ryan even lied about his time running the Boston Marathon, according to "Runner's World." ?

Then there's John McCain wanting to start World War III, and finally, Clint Eastwood. Incredible.?
