Garmin 4210 gps issue - The Hull Truth - Boating and Fishing Forum

It's probably not the 4210 but the GPS receiver/antenna. The 4210 doesn't have a GPS receiver. It relies on an external device such as the supplied 17X GPS receiver/antenna to provide it with position information.

When the GPS stops working, from the home screen, push Configuration, then Communications, then NMEA 2000 Setup and then Device List to see if the 4210 sees the GPS antenna as an NMEA 2000 network device. Do the same when it is working so you can see that the 4210 lists the 17X receiver/antenna as a network device. If the 17X is not listed when it is working, then you may have a bad 17X receiver or maybe the NMEA 2000 network is losing power.

The transducer, if it is a fish finder transducer, is connected to the 4210 through a black box sounder via the Garmin Network, not the NMEA 2000 network.
